I have been experiencing one slow loading folder in Windows 7 lately which took me ages to figure out why it was happening and how that folder could be fixed so that it would display its contents right away. The folder was my download folder where all downloads from the Internet where placed in. It grew to a size of roughly 250 Gigabytes of data with all file types present: videos, photos, documents, programs and music. I first assumed it was simply to big or that the many files and subfolders inside would be the cause of the loading animation in the location bar. But deleting files and folders did not fix the problem.

There were other possibilities of which I explored all but none fixed the problem. This included antivirus software, shell extensions, the view mode or thumbnail caching. Then I read an article over at Addictive Tips about speeding up Windows 7 folder loading time. The explanation given in the article did not describe my problem but the solution fixed it.

I checked the folder properties after reading the article to see how this folder was optimized in Windows 7. It was set to pictures. I changed that value to videos and placed a checkmark in the “also apply this template to all subfolders” checkbox. (it also worked changing it to general items and documents with general items probably the best choice.

The result was incredible. The folder contents where displayed right away without loading time. I reverted the settings only to experience the slow loading folder contents once again.

It is safe to assume that this is some kind of caching gone wrong. I’m not sure why it was set to pictures in first place but this is the cause for the slow loading folder.

6. Airplane mode on (keep it in that mode for more than 10 seconds)
7. Airplane mode off, you should see “searching” and should pick up the carrier’s signal.

If that didn’t help:

1. Type yellowsn0w -r once and after 5 sec wait 1 min.
2. Airplane mode on (keep it in that mode for more than 10 seconds).
3. Airplane mode off, you should see “searching” and should pick up the carrier’s signal.

Note: Ignore the Unknown message (0xe3ff8000), the command still works even if you get it.

Method 3 to Unlock iPhone 3G:

This was suggested by Anton, one of our readers (Thanks Anton!)

1. Install BossPrefs via Cydia.
2. Disable all Functions with BossPrefs (don’t worry if you can’t disable EDGE)
3. Reboot your Phone with BossPrefs (not in the normally way – important!)
4. Wait 1.30 min when you see the Lockscreen.
5. Take out your Sim and re-insert it.
6. Wait a moment (30 seconds).
7. Go on Settings and Turn on the Airplane mode (keep it in that mode for more than 10 seconds).
8. Turn off Airplane Mode.
9. Your iPhone 3G should pick up the carrier’s signal.

Method 4 (via YouTube, user reda92) to Unlock iPhone 3G:

1. Reset Network Settings. 99% of your success rate will depend on this. (You can find this in settings – general and to the bottom you’ll see a “reset” menu in which you can find this)
2. Reboot your iPhone
3. Wait a little over a min.
4. Remove your SIM card and re-insert it back in
5. Wait 30 sec.
6. Turn on Airplane mode and wait 10 sec. (This is important as well)
7. Turn of Airplane mode, you should see “searching” and should pick up the carrier’s signal.

2. We assume you have installed iTunes 8.2 if not then you must install iTunes 8.2

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0 with QuickPWN 3.0 on Windows & Mac

1. Download iPhone 3G 3.0 software update and save it on your computer (Preferably create a folder QuickPWN 3.0 and save in that folder (This is just for simplicity)

2. Download QuickPWN 3.0 latest iPhone firmware 3.0 jailbreak tool.

3. Unzip QuickPWN 3.0 in a folder created on 1st step.

4. Connect your iPhone to your commuter.

5. iTunes should detect your iPhone

6. Now you can either update iPhone 3G to 3.0 or Restore Firmware 3.0 ipsw. Its better to restore to have fresh & clean firmware installation. (backup your iPhone before proceeding for restore)

7. Once you have finished with Restoring/Updating iPhone to OS 3.0 software update launch QuickPWN 3.0 downloaded in step 2.

8. QuickPWN 3.0 will automatically detect your iPhone, now browser and locate iPhone OS 3.0 software update downloaded in step 1.

9. QuickPWN 3.0 will display a green checkmark if the firmware is correct.

10. Using QuickPWN 3.0 install Cydia Installer on your iPhone3G. Select at least Cydia from menu, then click the blue arrow to continue.

11. QuickPWN 3.0 will prompt “please make sure your device is connected via USB before continuing” click the blue arrow to continue.

12. QuickPwn 3.0 will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once it is in recovery mode you will be asked to press following key sequence.

- Hold the Home button for 5 seconds,

- Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds,

- Then release the Power button while continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode

13. If you have followed above steps correctly, QuickPWN 3.0 will detect your iPhone in recovery mode and will ask you to “wait while your iPhone is prepared for jailbreaking”.

14 Now wait for QuickPWN 3.0 Message “The pwnage process appears to have completed successfully. Please wait for your device to reboot in its newly modified state”.

Install Windows 7 From Usb has its advantage which is you don’t need to worry if the DVD drive cannot read the disc or if there is any scratches on the Windows installation DVD, and it is more convenient to carry around your USB flash drive rather than a DVD disc. Moreover, a lot of new compact small laptops or desktops doesn’t even have a CD/DVD drive. Other than that, you can even save useful software setups such as Firefox, Windows Live Messenger, 7-Zip, Orbit Downloader and etc into the USB drive so you can install them once Windows installation has been completed.

I will show you two ways (manual and automatic) on how to Install Windows 7 From Usb.

Before we start Install windows 7 from usb, make sure you have at least a 4GB USB flash drive. Windows 7 installation files takes up around 3GB of space.

1. Insert your USB flash drive.
2. Hit WIN+R, type cmd and click OK.
3. Type diskpart and hit ENTER
4. Type list disk, hit ENTER and identify the disk number for your USB flash drive. You MUST be very sure of this or else you’ll be formatting the wrong drive later on. If you have only one hard drive, then normally your USB flash drive will be disk 1.

5. Type select disk 1 and hit ENTER
6. Type clean and hit ENTER
7. Type create partition primary and hit ENTER
8. Type select partition 1 and hit ENTER
9. Type active and hit ENTER
10. Type format fs=fat32 and hit ENTER
11. Type assign and hit ENTER
12. Type exit and hit ENTER
13. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD disc and copy everything from the DVD to your USB flash drive.
14. Boot up your computer with USB flash drive. You will need to go into your BIOS and make sure it is set to boot from flash devices. If you got it right, the Windows 7 installation should load from your USB flash drive. The automatic way to Install windows 7 from usb
There is a software called WinToFlash that does everything above automatically. All you need to do is run the program, set the location of the Windows 7 installation disc and the destination of your USB flash drive.

1. Download the latest version of WinToFlash. to Install windows 7 from usb
2. Extract and run WinToFlash.exe
3. Click the big check button to start Windows setup transfer wizard.
4. Click Next
5. Specify the locations of Windows files and USB drive then click Next. The Windows files path if the drive letter of your DVD drive and the USB drive is the drive letter of your USB flash drive.
6. Select “I Accepted the terms of the license agreement” and click Continue.
7. Click OK to start formatting your USB flash drive and the files will be automatically transferred from your Windows 7 install disc to your USB flash drive. Install windows 7 from usb
8. Click Next when finished copying and boot up the computer with USB flash drive.

You will need to go into your BIOS and make sure it is set to boot from flash devices. If you got it right, the Windows 7 installation should load from your USB flash drive. Your computer hardware specification plays a part on the time taken to install Windows. I managed to complete installing Windows 7 from USB flash drive with only 17 minutes and my desktop’s specification is Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz, 2GB ram, 7200RPM 160GB SATA hard drive and MSI 945P Platinum mainboard. How to Install Enable Windows 7 Dreamscene in Windows 7

1. Download Windows7-dreamscene.exe, this executable patch will automatically copy the necessary DreamScene files and merge require registry keys and entries.

2. Now run Windows7-DreamScene.exe as Administrator to install and enable Windows DreamScene on Windows 7.

The Windwos7-dreamscene.exe installer will copy DreamScene.dll to %WinDir%\System32 folder, DreamScene.dll.mui to %WinDir%\System32\en-US folder and will automatically add required Registry entry.
